Book Launch Checklist: Prepare Your Reader Outreach

A book launch checklist helps you prepare the reader-facing parts of a release before you share it widely. Use this timeline to coordinate your author website, advance readers, subscriber updates, and book links. Adjust the dates to your manuscript and publishing schedule.

Revvue brings author websites, newsletter and ARC signups, and book review request tools into one author workflow. Explore Revvue’s book launch tools.

The author website is free. Newsletter and ARC signup collection require a Bookworm or Bookworm Pro plan. Read plan FAQs.

Four to six weeks before launch: prepare the essentials

  • Confirm your intended launch date and the book details you can share publicly.
  • Prepare your cover, short description, author biography, and available reading formats.
  • Publish or update your author website with a clear next step for readers.
  • If you are inviting advance readers, prepare a readable ARC and explain its status.
  • Choose an achievable outreach schedule that leaves time to answer reader questions.

This is a suggested planning window, not a requirement. Begin earlier if your book needs a longer advance reading period.

Two to four weeks before launch: invite interested readers

  • Open ARC signups if your advance copy and access instructions are ready.
  • Share your invitation with relevant readers and permitted communities.
  • Test signup forms and check that interested readers appear in your subscriber workflow.
  • Keep ARC interest separate from permission to send ongoing newsletters.
  • Give advance readers a clear reading window and a way to ask questions.

Do not treat every signup as a promised review. Readers may need more time or decide the book is not for them.

Launch week: make the next step easy

  • Check that your live retailer links open the correct book and edition.
  • Update the author site if preorder wording or dates have changed.
  • Send a useful release update to readers who requested those messages.
  • Share optional review information with readers who have finished the book.
  • Check the current requirements of any review platform you link to.

For Revvue requests, check your account’s coin balance, plan rules, book details, and supported formats. The free plan requires a submitted review to appear live on Amazon before you can request reviews for your own books.

After launch: follow through and learn

  • Answer access questions and correct broken links.
  • Thank readers without asking them to change a rating.
  • Close or revise ARC invitations that no longer apply.
  • Review author-site visits, newsletter opt-ins, ARC signups, and book-link clicks.
  • Record what you would change for your next release.

A clear website and organized outreach make it easier for readers to participate. They do not guarantee a launch result, sales, or retailer publication of a review.

Use the checklist with Revvue

Start with your author website as the destination you share. Configure newsletter and ARC sections for the reader actions you need, then review your book listing and review request options separately. Keep launch information consistent across the website, your invitations, and the book’s retailer page.

When you check your subscriber list, distinguish people interested in advance copies from people asking for future release news. Use your export to organize follow-ups through the email workflow you have chosen.

Quick answers

What should be ready before inviting launch readers?

Prepare a readable book file, accurate book description, author page, working links, and clear reading or release dates. Test any signup and access flow before sharing the invitation.

Which book launch results can I measure on my author page?

Revvue’s author analytics show page views, featured-book clicks, and newsletter and ARC signup counts. These page interactions are distinct from completed orders, which must be checked in retailer reports.
